I can't believe that it's been since January that I've published a pattern! Well, here is a cutie, just in time for Halloween. And there's something on my knitting needles that I think the knitters will love that I plan on publishing the pattern for very soon.

Round 9: * 1 hdc in each of next 2 sts, hdc dec over next 2
sts *. Repeat from * to * around.
Rounds 10 & 11: hdc dec around.

Fasten off. Stitch head to body.

Wings:

Make 2

Ch 15

Row 1: Sl st into 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next
6 ch, sk next ch, hdc in next 5 ch. Ch 2, turn.

Row 2: 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 10 sts. Ch 1, turn.

Row 3: Sk 1st st, sl st in next st, hdc in next
3 sts, sk next st, hdc in next 3 sts. Ch 1, turn.

Row 4: Sk 1st st, sl st in next st, hdc in next
2 sts, sk next st, hdc in next 3 sts. Turn.

Row 5: Ch 2, hdc in next st, sl st in next 4 sts, ch 2, sl
st in next st.

Fasten off, leaving a tail about 8 inches long. Work the yarn
through to the end of the wing and use it to sew this end of the wing
to the body.

Feet:

Make 2

Ch 15, sl st all the way to the end of ch, ch 15 more then sl st
all the way to the end of ch.
Fasten off and leave tail for sewing to bottom of body.

So what I did was placed the pencil (lollipops are a good idea
too!) on the feet then one by one, fold the end of the foot over the
pencil so that it meets the other side of the foot. Stitch this down.
Do this for all four pieces of the feet.

That's it! It works up really quick and he/she is cute in any color you decide to make.

At the beginning of that I bought the "I Taught Myself To Knit" kit at Walmart and even though they come with a DVD, I couldn't really make much sense of it. And I should confess that I never used the DVD because at the time that I bought the kit, my youngest child was a toddler and I just didn't have time to sit down and watch anything other than Blue's Clues.

But over the years, and especially recently, it really nagged at me that I just couldn't grasp the concept. I always made the excuse that I wasn't coordinated enough to make both hands work together.

I don't make New Year's resolutions but at the beginning of the year I made up my mind to try one more time to learn so I bought a new pair of knitting needles (because who knows what happened to the ones that came with the kit) and started searching on YouTube.

Why hadn't I thought to look on YouTube before?

Anyway, I found some really easy to follow videos by Goodknitkisses and I'm not a pro but I'm learning.

I'm working on a headband now and I'm thinking of sharing the pattern. It's nothing fancy, just a combination of the stitches I've learned so far.

Happy stitches!

xoxox

For this I used a size H hook, a yarn needle, 2 skeins of Red Heart Super Saver in Glow Worm and 1 skein of Red Heart Super Saver in Black.

The squares are Solid Granny Squares which you can find instructions for at Fiber Flux . You're going to make 8 black squares and 27 glow worm squares. Each square will be a total of 5 rounds.

Arrange the squares as shown in the picture of my blanket and whip stitch them together with yarn and the yarn needle.

Once you have all of your squares stitched together, join the glow worm yarn at one of the corners (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc), dc in each stitch across, in next corner (2dc, ch2, 2dc). Continue around the throw working sides and corner as you've worked the others.

Fasten off and weave in ends
