It's the Great Beanie, Charlie Brown Crochet Pattern All Sizes

Materials Needed:

• Size I, J or K hook (depends on size of hat)

• One skein each of worsted weight yarn in yellow and black

• Yarn Needle for weaving in ends

Abbreviations:

• hdc = half double crochet

• dc = double crochet

• sk = skip

• st = stitch

• sl st = slip stitch

• hdc dec = half double crochet decrease

• fpdc = front post double crochet

0-3 Months

Size I hook

Round 1: starting with a magic ring and yellow yarn, 9 hdc in ring. Pull tail of ring to tighten ring.

Round 2: 2 hdc in each st around

Round 3: *1 hdc in first st, 2 hdc in next st.* Repeat from * to * around.

Round 4: *hdc in each of next 4 sts, 3 dc in next st, hdc in each of next 4 sts, hdc dec over next 2 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. Fasten off yellow yarn with a sl st into the next st.

Round 5: join black yarn in 2nd st after sl st at end of round 4. Hdc in joining st and each of next 3 sts, *3 dc in next st, hdc in each of next 4 sts, hdc dec over next 2 sts, hdc in each of next 4 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. Hdc in each of last 2 sts.

Round 6: hdc dec the two unworked yellow sts from the beginning of round 5. Hdc in each of next 5 sts, 3 dc in next st, *hdc in each of next 4 sts, hdc dec over next 3(three) sts, hdc in each of next 4 sts, 3 dc in next st.* Repeat from * to * around. Hdc in each of last two sts. Fasten off black yarn with sl st in next st. Join yellow yarn in next st.

Round 7: hdc dec over next 3(three) sts, *hdc in each of next 4 sts, 3 dc in next st, hdc in each of next 4 sts, hdc dec over next 3(three) sts.* Repeat from * to * around. 

Round 8: hdc in joining st and each of the next 3 sts, *3 dc in next st, hdc in each of next 4 sts, hdc dec over next 3 sts, hdc in each of next 4 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. Hdc in each of next 2 sts, hdc dec over last 3 sts.

Round 9: *hdc in each of next 10 sts, hdc dec over next 2 sts.* Repeat from * to * around.

Round 10: hdc in each st around.

Round 11: *hdc in each of next 2 sts, fpdc over next post.* Repeat from * to * around.

Round 12: sl st in each st around.

Fasten off, weave in ends.

3-6 Months

Then continue following the pattern for the 18-24 month size from round 9 to the end. (Round 9 will actually become your round 10)

Preteen

Follow pattern for the 12-18 months but use a K hook.
