Thanksgiving Turkey Free Pattern!

Materials needed:
  • Worsted weight yarn in buff, pumpkin and gold
  • H crochet hook
  • Yarn Needle
  • A little more than a handful of fiber fill stuffing.
  • Two small plastic eyes with fasteners.
Stitches used:
  • SC = single crochet
  • SC2TOG = single crochet 2 together
  • CH = chain
  • SL ST = slip stitch
For the body:
Chain 2.
Round 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook.
Round 2: 2 sc in each sc around
Round 3: *1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in the next sc* repeat around from *.
Round 4: *1 sc in first two 2 sc, 2 sc in the next sc* repeat around from*.
Round 5: *1 sc in first 3 sc,2 sc in the next sc* repeat around from *.
Round 6 - 14: 1 sc in each sc around.
Pick the front of your turkey and attach the two eyes.
At this point you will need to stuff your turkey with the fiber fill.
Round 15: *SC2TOG, 1 sc in next 3 stitches* repeat around from *.
Round 16: *SC2TOG, 1 sc n next 2 stitches* repeat around from *.
Round 17: *SC2TOG, 1 sc in next stitch* repeat around from *.
Round 18: SC2TOG around.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

To make the tail:
With the gold, ch 13.
Row 1: 1 sc in second chain from hook and in each across, chain 1, turn.
Row 2: sc in flo in next 10 stitches, chain 1, turn
Row 3: Repeat row 2.
Row 4: 1 sc flo in next 10 stitches and the 2 unworked from row 2.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Row 5: Join the pumpkin. Ch 1, 1 sc in each across, chain 1, turn.
Row 6: 1 sc flo in next 8, chain 1, turn.
Row 7: Repeat row 6.
Row 8: 1 sc flo in next 8 stitches and the remaining 4 unworked from row 6, chain 1,turn.
Repeat rows 1 - 8 and then row 1 - 4 one more time.

Beak: (with gold)
Chain 5.
Row 1: sc across, chain 1, turn.
Row 2: sc2tog, sc till the last 2, sc2tog.
Row 3: sc2tog first two stitches, sc2tog last two stitches.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Feet: (make 2 with gold)
Chain 6.
SC in each sc across.
Ch 4 then sl st back down and sl st at the base of the "leg".
Ch 4 then sl st ack down and sl st at the base of the "leg".
Ch 4 then sl st back down and sl st at the base of the "leg".

Snood: (with pumpkin)
Chain 5.
Put 5 sc in first chain.
Sl st in next 3 stitches.
Put 5 sc in last chain.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Assembly:
With the yarn needle and gold yarn, stitch the tail to the back of the body so that the top of the feathers show as shown in the picture above. With the gold yarn, whip stitch the beak centered and just below the eyes. Whip stitch the feet to the base of the body with the gold yarn. Whip stitch the snood with the pumpkin yarn just above the beak and down the front of the beak.
