Brim & Bow Fall Hat Free Crochet Pattern

Materials Used:

•Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Carrot and Black

•Size I Hook

•Yarn Needle

Abbreviations:

•HDC = Half Double Crochet

•SC = Single Crochet

•Ch = Chain

•St = Stitch

Round 1: With carrot yarn, 8 HDC in magic ring. Pull tail to tighten ring.

Round 2: 2 HDC in each st around.

Round 3: *1 HDC in first st, 2 HDC in next st.* Repeat from * to * around.

Round 4: *1 HDC in each of first 2 sts, 2 HDC in next st.* Repeat from * to * around.

Round 5: *1 HDC in each of first 3 sts, 2 HDC in next st.* Repeat from * to * around.

Round 6: *1 HDC in each of first 4 sts, 2 HDC in next st.* Repeat from * to * around.

Rounds 7-13: HDC in each st around. Fasten off, join black yarn.

Rounds 14-16: HDC in each st around. Fasten off, join carrot yarn.

Brim

Round 17: *SC in each of first 5 sts, 2 sc in next.* Repeat from * to * around.

Round 18: SC in each st again.

Round 19: *SC in each on first 6 sts, 2 sc in next.* Repeat from * to * around.

Round 20: SC in each st around.

Round 21: *SC in each if first 7 sts, 2 SC in next st.* Repeat from * to * around.

Round 22: SC in each st around.

Fasten off, weave in ends.

Bow

With black yarn ch 18.

Row 1: HDC in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.

Rows 2-6: HDC in each st across. Ch 1, turn.

HDC evenly down side, 3 HDC in corner, HDC across bottom, 3 HDC in corn, HDC evenly up side, 3 HDC in corner, HDC across top, 3 HDC in corner. Fasten off leavin 18" long tail.

"Pinch" this piece in the center to form the bow shape. Then with yarn needle and long tail, make a few stitches through center to hold it together. Now wrap the tail several times around center of bow. Stitch to hat.
