Braided Sandal Bootie with Flower FREE Crochet Pattern Size 3 - 6 Months

Materials:

  • One ball of Peaches and Creme brand yarn in white and blue
  • Size D crochet hook
  • Yarn Needle
  • Two small buttons
Abbreviations:

  • St = Stitch
  • Ch = Chain
  • SC = Single Crochet
  • HDC = Half Double Crochet
  • DC = Double Crochet
  • Sl St = Slip Stitch 
Sole:



Round 1: Ch 11 (13), hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in next 7 (9) chs, 6 hdc in last ch. Now working on the “under” side of the ch, hdc in next 7 (9) ch, 5 hdc in last ch, sl st join in the first hdc made.



Round 2: Ch 1, hdc in the next 8 (10) sts, 2 hdc in each of the next 5 sts, hdc in the next 8 (10) sts, 2 hdc in each of the next 5 sts, sl st in first hdc of round.



Round 3: Ch 1, hdc in the next 8 (10) sts, (1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st) 5 times, hdc in next 8 (10) sts, (1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st) 5 times, sl st in first hdc of round. Finish off and weave in ends.

Front Strap:



Instructions are the same for both sizes.



Find the 11 centermost stitches at the toe of the sole. Put some type of marker in the first and last stitch of the 11 center stitches. (the little twisty ties from bread work well for markers, just sayin') Begin next steps in the stitch behind the marked stitch.



Join the yarn, ch 14, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch, sl st into the next stitch, ch 12, sc in the second ch from hook and in each ch, sl st into the next stitch, ch 12, sc in the second ch from hook then fasten off.



Braid these three chains. Take your needle and a piece of yarn and stitch together the ends. Stitch these ends down to the opposite side of the sole.

Heel and ankle strap:



Start in the third st from the braid.

Row 1: Ch 1, sc in same stitch, and in each stitch around until you get to three stitches from the braid. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2 – 6: SC in each st around. Ch 1, turn.



For the left sandal:



Ch 13, sc in the second ch from hook and in each ch st. Sl St into the first stitch of the next row down. Ch 13, sc in the second ch from hook and in each ch st. Sl St into the first stitch of the next row down.



Ch 13, sc in the second ch from hook and in each ch st. Sl St into the first stitch of the next row down. Fasten off. Braid these three chains and then sew ends with needle and long strand of yarn. Insert the hook through one side of the braid, yarn over and pull back through. You should
now have a loop on your hook. Ch 7 then sl st into the opposite side of the braid. Now you should have a button hole at the end of the braid. Ch 1, turn and then work 8 sc into the loop. Fasten off and weave in ends.



For the right sandal:



Fasten off and and join on the opposite side of the back. Ch 13, sc in the second ch from hook and in each ch st. Sl St into the first stitch of the next row down. Do this two more times. Fasten off. Braid these three chains and then sew ends with needle and long strand of yarn. Insert the hook through one side of the braid, yarn over and pull back through. You should now have aloop on your hook. Ch 7 then sl st into the opposite side of the braid. You should now have a button hold at the end of the braid. Ch 1, turn and then work 8 sc into the button hole. Fasten off and weave in ends.



Sew on the buttons so that they're lined up correctly with the button holes.

Flower embellishments:

Make 2

Round 1: With white yarn, ch 2, then 9 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sl st into the first sc made. Fasten off, weave in ends.

Round 2: Join the blue yarn, * ch 3, sl st to the next st. * Repeat from * to * around. You should have 9 petals. In each petal loop, sl st, sc, hdc, sc, sl st. Sl st to the first petal. Fasten off, weave in ends. Attach to the ankle strap just before the button hole.
