Princess Anna Hood Free Crochet Pattern
Materials:
• H hook
• Worsted weight yarn in orchid, turquoise, black, pink and carrot
• Yarn needle
Abbreviations:
• ch = chain
• hdc = half double crochet
• yo = yarn over
• dc = double crochet
• lc = lace cluster
• sk = skip
• st = stitch
• sp = space
Special instructions:
V stitch: double crochet, ch 2, double crochet in indicated stitch.
Lace cluster: (yo, insert hook, draw up a loop) 4 times in same st, yo, draw through all 9 loops, ch 1.
This pattern is written for child size but can easily be adjusted to any size by increasing or decreasing the beginning ch and the amount of rows.
With orchid, ch 61.
Row 1: hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 2, turn.
Row 2: *v stitch in first st, sk 2 sts, lc in next st, sk 2 sts.* Repeat from * to * across ending with dc in last st. Ch 2, turn.
Row 3: dc in first st, *v st in so above lc (the ch that closed off the lc), lc in the 2 ch sp of v st.* repeat from * to * across ending with dc in last st. Ch 2, turn.
Row 4: dc in first st, *v st in sp over lc, lc in 2 ch sp of v st.* Repeat from * to * across ending with dc in last st. Ch 2, turn.
Rows 5-11: repeat rows 3&4, ending with a row 3. At the end of row 11, ch 1, turn.
Row 12: hdc in first st, hdc in sp over lc, hdc in sp between lc and v st, *3 hdc in 2ch sp of v st, hdc in sp between v st and next lc, hdc in sp above lc, hdc in sp between lc and next v st.* Repeat from * to * until last v st. In last 2 ch sp of v st, 2 hdc, then hdc in last st. Fasten off.
Row 13: join black yarn, hdc in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 14: hdc in each st across. Fasten off.
Fold the rectangle in half. With orchid yarn, sl st the two purple edges together. This will be the back of your hat. Now turn the bonnet right side out so that the seam is on the inside.
Row 15: join the turquoise yarn at the bottom of the seam and dc evenly across until you get to the black corner. (You should have 25 dc at this point.) do not dc in the black corner. Ch 41, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch back up towards bonnet. 3 dc in black corner. *sk next 2 sts, 4 dc in next st.* Repeat from * to * until you reach the next corner, 3 dc in corner, dc in next st, ch 41, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch back up towards bonnet, dc evenly back around towards seam in back. Sl st to first dc made. Fasten off, weave in all ends.
Chrysanthemum:
With pink yarn
Round 1: starting with a magic ring, 13 sc in ring, sl st to first sc. Pull tail of ring to tighten ring.
Round 2: make 1 petal in front loop of each sc from round 1 as follows: (1 sc, ch 5, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in each of next 2 ch, sc in next ch, sc in sc at beginning).
Round 3: make 1 petal in back loop of each sc from round 1 as follows: (1 sl st, ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 4 ch).
Fasten off and stitch to hat. Stitch button to center of flower.
